Beginning Flex 2

I had been interested in learning Flex for awhile. By composing MXML and possibly Action Script text files, you can create rich applications, the final output is identical in every way to .swf shockwave flash format, now owned by Adobe. You can utilize a technology they call AIR which can let you compile to a binary executable that works on Mac, Linux & Windows workstations. There is an excellent IDE named Flex Builder that Adobe is selling, but you can use any text editor and the flex SDK compiler is free. I had trouble doing anything with Flex 3 immediately, but Flex 2 worked like a champ right away. After spending a couple days learning MXML, I must say I really like it. In many ways its like they have remade HTML4 and really kept things simple, allowing full control to multimedia, styles and events.
