Again, all the code you'll find in my tutorials will validate under the doctype of xhtml 1.0 transitional, where all single tags (like the img tag) need to be closed by a trailing slash. To display an image file on a webpage you need to specify the filename and alternative text like this:


From an SEO standpoint, you could gain some boost by applying your target key phrases as alternative text. But most often alternative text is used for text-only browsers, such as those for the visually impaired.

If you want to prevent jumpiness when your page loads, you can define the width and height of your images.
